Mcafee keeps updating when computer restarts

This MIGHT be the page: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v60392881_End User Profile_en_us. Will first wait for formal announcements on this forum and on Symantec's site.

While working inside the computer, be cautious of ESD.

Any failing hardware component in your computer could cause your computer to unexpectedly generate an error or reboot without warning.

I uninstalled that ages ago, and it doesn't show up in the Add/Remove programs either. I scanned my computer with AVG and it turned up a trojan named "Trojan Horse Downloader. YEQ"Had no luck removing it with the AVG antivirus.

It keeps asking for a restart of my computer, so i did it but nothing happened after that. A friend of mine suggested trying out Kaspersky and so i downloaded the free trial(Mind you, if it worked i'd have gone out and bought it after the trial period).

So, I ask you, Microsoft, do you truly believe automatic restarts are in the user's best interest?

I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me over the years, and this behavior makes me absolutely furious.

I have restarted my computer 9 times in a row already for the Kaspersky 2010, and yet it still says "You need to restart the computer before proceeding with the installation". And before you ask, i did check my registry for this "avp6_post_uninstall" and there was nothing. Go to Removing other anti-viruses, Before installing Kaspersky in PROTECTION FOR HOME USERS and download the Mac Afee tool--you will find a link. Now, what happened was - It said i had Mcafee still installed, but i didn't.
