Updating srcds

Doing this is a must if you are creating a multiplayer mod as the behaviour of dedicated servers differs from that of listenservers (those started from the main menu) in some areas.

This describes the process of updating the CS: GO dedicated server application. CS: GO game servers and GOTV relays not logged in to a persistent game server account with a Game Server Login Token (GSLT) will only allow clients to connect from the same LAN RFC1918 addresses (10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255,172.16.0.0-1.255,192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255).

These steps are required every time the game is updated. If your server has a public routable IP address and clients need to connect from outside the server LAN then you need to get registered for GSLT.

It is recommended you create a separate user to install and run game servers.

It will make managing srcds installations easier, but won't solve every problem you might encounter.

New installations take seconds to create once a master has been installed, because nothing needs to be downloaded.

Linked installations require dramatically less filesystem space than standard installations and are easier to backup and move around.

No matter which type of server you are using, your computer must be able to receive unsolicited incoming connections.
